Humans
North Korean
Korean People's Army
By 2020, North Korea became quite a militant world power. Prior to the Delta Force arrival on the Spratly Islands, the Korean People's Army had set up an impressive military presence to study the alien crash site. KPA forces range from grunts to high powered battle tanks and attack helicopters.
North Korean General
The NK general is in charge of all the NK forces on the island. His name is Kyong, and he is the one who you are after throughout the single player campaign.
North Korean Officer
Mentioned in a few earlier interviews and also seen in a more recent gameplay trailer is the North Korean officer (official name unknown.) Lower ranking soldiers have been seen to salute to these evidently more superior military men. These soldiers are easily identified by their red beret making them high priority targets in any mission.
Heavy Armored Grunt
Seen in several screenshots, this soldier is heavily armored compared to the standard North Korean grunt.
Communications Grunt
Crysis will feature several North Korean radio units that can contact other camps for reinforcements. Every level is divided into "action bubbles" where the enemy presence is concentrated. Most of these "action bubbles" are able to communicate with each other through the use of this communication network. If Jake assaults a camp without neutralizing these communications, the other camps will be alerted to his position. In contrast, this allows the player to create diversions by attacking one camp, and running to another weakened camp from which the reinforcements had been ordered.
United States
USS Constitution Admiral Morrison
This character was seen in the E3 2006 video is the Commanding Officer of the USS Constitution. He's a US Navy four star Admiral which undoubtedly makes him the most senior US officer in the game however he does not play a pivotal role in the storyline of the first act.
Major Strickland
First seen in the XtremeQuest cutscene video, this US Marine Corps officer's rank and gestures during the cutscene suggest he is a battalion tank commander. He plays a large role throughout the single player campaign.
Helena Rosenthal
[From The Archaeological Team Kidnapped By The North Koreans]
Her voice is heard in the starting cinematic for the game. She is the archaeologist who sent out the distess signal, alerting the US of the North Korean invasion of the island.
She is also shown in the level Recovery, where the player has to rescue her. She is the Korean girl in the cutscene from the Coming Soon trailer where a Delta Force operative breaks down a door to rescue.
She is also mentioned by Psycho in the Contact cutscene. He says "Jester's right! If this Rosenthal guy was a proper nut - we wouldn't be here!" Psycho used the term "he" because he was speaking of Helena's father, who was also captured by the North Koreans.
US Army Delta Force team
There are various parts in the game where Delta Force teammates will assist Jake in his missions. The player will not be able to directly control the teammates but they have a AI scheme that allows them to mimic the player's actions. If they see Jake using stealth to approach they will use cover and hide. If Jake goes in guns blazing they let the rounds fly as well. Losing a teammate in one mission means they will not be available for subsequent missions but you do not "lose" the game due to Crysis' open-ended storylines.
Referred to in game as Raptor team.
Prophet
Prophet is the Delta Force team leader and will be giving Jake most of his intel and orders throughout the game. He's affectionately referred to as "boss" by the other team members. About half way through the game "Boss" goes missing and your further orders are given to you by the USS Consitution or Major Strickland. He also has the controlls to vaporise the suits of your squad when they die so they dont fall into KPA hands. He is ranked at Major.
Lt Jake Dunn
This is the character the player controls in the single player campaign. He's a Lieutenant in the US Army and is second in command of the Delta Force unit. His callsign is Nomad.
Sergeant Kenning
This member is mentioned in the Intel/NVIDIA promo video on a storyboard.
Psycho
Psycho is the callsign of this brash DF member. He has a British accent so it can perhaps be assumed he is a member of the British Army or Royal Marines on secondment to Delta Force and in true British fashion favours the word "bollocks" to show his displeasure when the situation demands it.
Jester
Jester is last seen in one of the last cutscenes of the demo (Mission 1: Contact). He gets picked up and taken by an alien at the end of the cutscene, and you and your squad are tasked with tracking him down. This does not turn out to well, when yu find Jester's mutilated corps against some rocks at the bottom of a cliff.
A tech model. Jester will, like all other members of the delta team leave a part of his character.
Aztec
Aztec is found by his teammates hanging upside down with his eyes glowing red in the Coming Soon trailer and is part of the reason the DF's mission has gone wrong...terribly wrong.
- first kill. Aztec didn't have much to say because he died at the beggining.
Aliens
"Jelly Squids"
Aliens outside of their exosuits, in their natural zero gravity environment, without mechanical augmentation. Only seen in the "CORE" level of Crysis, these squids are quite a challenge with their hit-and-run & team tactics. some are also equiped with ice shard guns. In combat they have power close range attacks

Troopers
The standard alien foe which is a robotic unit the aliens deploy. It is nearly human size and can fly, hover, or crawl with its tentacles for propulsion. It has a small freeze ray and uses its tentacles to wrap up enemies. Several screenshots indicate that they attack in groups. It is very lightly armored and easily killed. Once dead it self detonates to keep the alien technology from getting to the humans, and as a last stand to try and kill the humans nearby. There are two types of these aliens, one of which is equipped with the MOAC and the other is equipped with the MOAR.
Scout
An exosuit which can carry up to four troopers. The Scouts are very dangerous and are equipped with many different weapons, including the MOAC, MOAR, Singularity Cannon, and tentacles.
Hunters
There is only one hunter in the game. You fight it twice. It now features all the weapons (Singularity Cannon, MOAC, and MOAR).
Warrior
The largest of the aliens is an Alien Warship. About the size of an aircraft carrier, this Warship has shield, singularity cannons, and four MOAC turrets. The only known way to destroy a Warrior is to use a specific signal ampplified by your nanosuit to dissable the shields, and then use your TAC cannon to destroy sevral critical components on the exertior. In game you see this in-human craft, after you have met Phrofit in the "Ice Shere" just befor you cross the bridge out of the shere. It is engaged in combat on the last level.
Wildlife
During a walkthrough with Alex Marschal and Bernd Diemer, Bernd paid very close attention to the animals in their demonstration level. The placid creatures in Crysis have been known to include:
Sharks
These will attack the player if they stray too far from the coast. Seen in the DirectX10 Flyover video.
Butterflies
Pretty butterflies can be seen fluttering their way about the island, unperturbed by the mass destruction carried through around them.
Fish
Schools of colorful, tropical fish can be seen swimming lazily about in the water. Seen in the E3 2007 videos. There's also fish being cooked in the DX10 flyover vid.
Birds
Flying birds have been mentioned in hands-on articles. Land birds have been seen in E307; they were notably fearful of Alex Marschal's aggressive approach to their peaceful lifestyle. Seen in the E307 Gametrailers videos.
Turtles
As a joke, level designers at Crytek hid a turtle in the level featured in their E307 presentation. An interview with Gamespot and Bernd Diemer revealed that a player found the hidden turtle. According to Bernd, the player decided to pick the turtle up and play around with it.
Possessing a bizzare 'hover' power, this creature can slide effortlessly on any terrain, asnd even into the air, as seen in THIS user video.
Crabs
Crabs have been seen to scuttle about on the beach, as well as in the shallows in the E307 Island Walkthrough. They react realistically to the player, so much so that people have successfully herded these animals both under water, and on dry land.
Chickens
First seen in a conference about the vehicles of Crysis. These mysterious animals have been known to be fairly calm, even when all hell is breaking loose about them (see: GamesRadar article). Several hands-on players have been able to throw them into things using strength mode, causing rather bloody explosions. Chickens can also be used as a very entertaining way of defeating an enemy, when thrown in stregth mode at an unexpecting NK soldier. In the more recent E3 '07 Island Walkthrough, Bernd tells Alex to put the chicken out of harms way, when a KPA soldier begins to fire upon Alex.
Frogs
Jumping about.
Most animals seem to be "pickable" as Bernd Diemer described. That is to say, they can be handled, placed out of harms way, and even thrown sadistically into things. Bernd seems rather fond of these animals, and will stop at nothing to prevent their harm.
Carring an animal into the water will cause your character to drop it. Using an animal as a sheild is cruel and unusual... it also doesnt very much in the way of protection.
The type and ammount of Fanimals you will encounter will depend on the graphics settings you have the game set to. on low very few are seen and as you increase the level of detail you will see more.
