RTsa, did you record the video with the aliens? smile

The Aliens themselves are very much underwraps right now. One of the videos during Cevat's presentation was on the Aliens, however we were unable to film it. There is a summary on the front page detailing what we saw though.

Ok...the French man said the animation of the aliens was excellent, and that their design is even better than what he expected...can you confirm? ^^

This was stated by some gaming site who got to see the aliens in the 0-G enironment back during E3. The 0-G environment was only showed behind closed doors at E3, and the people who saw it had to sign an NDA.

They did say that the animations were Pixar quality.

Nice stuff Doc smile

Also, the leaves in this picture seem to be more reflective than usual.

Almost looks like they're wet, though it's probably just an old picture.

Re: inCrysis reporting from the Crysis summit in Frankfurt, Germany.

@PE2- I believe that's the new background for SB2.  Those are tropical wax plants and will reflect more than others.  I think if you focus in on just that part of the pic, it looks very nice.

Your right.  It reminded me of CE1 rendering, but Doc is right.  That is the way those plants should look.

Re: inCrysis reporting from the Crysis summit in Frankfurt, Germany.

Crysis-HQ has posted more of this presentation and two others in their gallery

They've also posted the first interview with Berdt Dietmer, though it is in German.

There's also bits at:

Re: inCrysis reporting from the Crysis summit in Frankfurt, Germany.

Even though I could barely see it, that facial animation capture tool is incredibly powerful.  Did you get to ask them if it will be included in the SDK? Imagine if that motion capture technology could be applied as easily to full body motions...

and could you further elaborate on 'Photobump' technology?  That seemed very interesting as well.

Re: inCrysis reporting from the Crysis summit in Frankfurt, Germany.

interesting to see in that last lot of screens that the editor was running in dx9 32-bit mode getting 40-80 fps. I would expect more on an empty level and would also have expected them to demonstrate cryengine2 completely in dx10

Yay!

Small question, did you guys see any vehicle to tree action?!?!?  Because I want to drive through forests with my tank.  (They do it in movies and in real life tanks can squish smallish trees.)

Re: inCrysis reporting from the Crysis summit in Frankfurt, Germany.

Made the facial animation video brighter.

That's as good as it gets, until the high quality versions arrive.
