YouTube videos in 720p by adding &hd=1 to the link

EDIT2: http://www.youtube.com/blog?entry=z-3cdIbKOqY

EDIT1: http://www.youtube.com/blog?entry=0i22UDAOfj8

Just stumbled into another YouTube quality variable thingy.

Apparently you can now watch YouTube videos in 720p. That will of course only happen if you upload a 720p video, and then add &hd=1 (previously &fmt=22) to the end of the YouTube link.

Example:

Regular: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWwruY

1280x720: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWwruY&hd=1 (use full screen view)

Clicking the "watch in high quality" link won't show 720p.

I downloaded the MP4 of that above clip with the Firefox Downloadhelper add-on:

Media Player Classic wrote:

Audio: AAC 44100Hz stereo 232Kbps [(C) 2007 Google Inc. v06.24.2007.]
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1280x720 [(C) 2007 Google Inc. v06.24.2007.]

Nice. What was &FMT=18? There was that, and another one, and then normal high quality.

720p is great smile

I think you mean &fmt=18, which is a different format.

1) Please don't cuss.

2) I have stopped questioning long ago anything Mocib does relating to the internet and I'm fully convinced they are one in the same via some cyberattachment from a USB port or summat.  The Borg can't touch him!!! big_smile

Not all videos work. You should be able to see the difference by comparing the two links Mocib posted

Good quality...I for one actually enjoyed the video content as well....There is a certain unifying aspect on a global level if I may say so myself.

isn't that the border between north and south korea?  apparently one tourist accidentally got lost and bordered into north korean territory and was shot down, but you can see later in the video that south korea are a more peaceful happyy bunch smile

impressive I feel like using it, but don't youtube have a file size limit?
