Side by Side config error FIXED !

I seen a few people ask this question here so I thought I would post this here I believe this will work for Vista or XP …I can confirm this works for Vista

If you can not run Crysis because you are getting a Side by Side config error here is the fix.
(Note: I found this on a Bioshock forum as some people had this same error with that game as well)

Here's what I did to fix this side-by-side configuration error.

Before you start uninstall Crysis

1) Go to http://support.microsoft.com/default.as … -us;290301 and download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.

2) Install the utility

3) Run it via the Start menu, go to Windows Installer Cleanup Utility

4) A list of installed programs should appear. Search out the C++ redistributable entry, and click on the button to uninstall it.(MAKE SURE THE ONLY ITEM ON THE LIST SELECTED IS THE C++ redistributable entry)

5) Re-install Crysis ....have fun

Re: Side by Side config error FIXED !

I did what worked for you, but I still have the same problem. So the "error msg" probably adresses more than just one problem.

Re: Side by Side config error FIXED !

What worked for me was:

1 -  I did the Windows Installer Cleanup - I didn't have the C++ files because I had tried this several times and removed the files on the first attempt and they never showed back up, but crysis would still not work.

2 - I went and got Steam and downloaded Bioshock demo.
This installed the C++ files.
Bioshock worked without any problems all settings maxed and 60fps on fraps.

3 - After I played Bioshock demo I then installed Crysis again.
-- I did NOT remove the C++ files
-- What I did different was I selected EASY INSTALL instead of the CUSTOM INSTALL. First thing I noticed was there was no "command line syntax error type /? for help". Also did not receive the "can’t install to games explorer" error. The game did install to the game explorer this time and when I clicked it the game started and I didnt get the "Application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect".

Hope this helps.
