They're only copying what Vimeo's been doing for a long time.
and Vimeo is just copying YouTube by hosting videos
YouTube didn't invent the video hosting service.

No, but that made it popular.

Yeah and I see no reason to use any other site but youtube now tbh (apart from 1080p, which I dont have the net speed to stream really.. ESPECIALLY when vimeo deleted my account and all my videos because they were in-game (from my map), I know they are not allowed but I removing the videos whould have been enough..
Why did they delete your account?
You are not allowed to have videos from games.. They were trailers for the map I am making, and they were the only copies I had.. ![]()

YEAH Removing my account was a PAIN in my ass.
I had to RE-ADD Myself with my NEW account, and re-"LIKE" all my favorites, so that my last 2 years on vimeo watching and finding good videos wasn't wasted... -_-
I have yet to find a place that can actually SHOW good quality 1280x720p and all users to download your original upload.

First time I see a "watch in HD" link under a video. Looks like they added it just recently?
The quality is of course still far from true High Definition quality, but it's certainly an improvement and I applaud YouTube for that.

I've waited ages for youtube to host HD content, can't wait for full HD 1080p

So is that the same as &fmt=22 quality?
Yes, it is the same.
it's still 720p HD, which I still think is true HD.
There's more to High Definition than just the resolution. The bitrate, for example, is far from "high" in YouTube HD videos.

I'm just uploading a video that is 1280x720, will it be HD or does it have to be 1290x720? I only just realised it was 90 not 80..
EDIT: Ah your first post seems to suggest 1280 works.

The "HD" parameter is now &hd=1: http://www.youtube.com/blog?entry=z-3cdIbKOqY
* Simpler HD Parameter: We want to give you more control over how your video looks, including the option of it being eye-blazingly clear (HD), so we've now added an official URL parameter (hd=1) for sharing HD links.
