Discussion of Crytek's Crysis games

Cevat has kindly made a statement regarding the release date for Crysis - here it is:
“There has been a lot of recent talk about Crysis' ship date. I wanted to send out a message to all those who are interested and set the record straight. The game will ship a little later than planned. I want to assure everyone that Crytek are working as hard as we possibly can to deliver this game to our fans and consumers in the earliest timeframe that meets our high quality threshold. Taking the extra time in the studio is the right decision because it helps us be sure that we can bring you the experience you expect from this new game.
2006 has been an amazing year for us and we have had great responses from press and fans coming out of Leipzig in August and E3 back in May. We appreciate all of the interest and comments -- positive and not so positive -- that we have been receiving. Crysis is an ambitious game in so many aspects and much of what we are doing will be a genuine first for the gaming industry: some of this stuff is really hard and just takes time to get right.
We are focussing our efforts right now on getting the best possible experience for the widest variety of PC configs, starting from entry-level PC's up to the hard-core game rigs. Multiplayer is also an area of big focus for us right now, and we listened very hard to our fans. This includes the post-launch modding and community plans. Crysis' core single player is improving all the time - the progress I am seeing from the team right now here in Frankfurt is just staggering.
We are tracking well and trying our very best to release the game as soon as we can but Crytek and EA can't provide a hard date just yet.”

I admire the fact that they're so community centred at Crytek. Thanks very much, Cevat. ![]()

Yeh props to Cevat.
Thats kewl if they need the time. I was unhappy because I thought it was EA related, but quality assurance is excellent.

Yeah, I admire Crytek's relations with its communities.
Especially me from a modding perspective. ![]()

Yeah, nothing new.

According to Cevat , Crytek listening very hard to their fans. Hopefully old Far Cry Communities prays about Assault will be heard!

Most game developers do, but some do it more than others. I have a thing on my site which shows if someone from Crytek is currently online. During a weekday between 9am and 5pm, there's usually someone from Crytek online 75% of the time.

Some of them really don't do it that much. Crytek has employed someone whose JOB is to do that. That's all he does ![]()
They're probably keeping very close tabs on what everyone thinks and says. ![]()

Although it's frustrating to hear that the game will be delayed and with that the SDK, It's still nice to know they're giving it all they have and working hard to release a quality game.

Offline
damn i hope its worth it. How long is delay though i would of liked to see somthing like q2 or q3 so its at least a good hypthosis unlike when you go to different sites they all are saying somthing else.

Actually, if you think about it, It's not that bad. It gives me more time before I need to upgrade my x850 xt pe, and by then, the dx10 cards will have come down in price.

Nothing surprising there ![]()
Nice to hear that they're really working hard on this game in all of its aspects.

I respect that statement much more than I do of other companies. Cevat is being honest and honesty is the route to go. I don't trust ID or Valve. They BS all the time with false delays. Valve blamed the COMMUNITY, instead of themselves, for HL2's delay. Hardware was the main reason why HL2 was delayed, not the stealing of the source code.
Also, gamers cannot complain about quality. If something is top quality and gets delayed 6 months, oh well. It's better than having a game die in the first month ( Far Cry ) because it was rushed into release. It never got the attention it deserved only because they wanted to make $$$$. Amen Cevat.
I agree with you Mixu. If Crytek wants to satisfy their MP gaming community, Assault *cough* TCTF must be very similar in gameplay. Crytek is victim of listening TOO hard to a "few" people in the Far Cry community who feel the game should be changed. All they need to do for Crysis is a create a similar game play experience as Far Cry's Assault without all the BS. If they can do that AND offer Powerstruggle, Crysis MP will not be a failure, period. I hope those Crytek employees are reading this because I am right
.

Exactly. I'm glad they aren't rushing the release.

I think its almost a good thing that Far Cry was so drowned out because of it being rushed and the other game releases, because now Crytek is able to learn from their mistakes and make a game that is better in every aspect and not rushed. (Not to mention the fact that Far Cry was quite a good game)

There's too many maps for FC, that's the only reason why I don't play it, aside from the server side mods that double the speed you move at (aka GodMod stuff). And if the maps were automatically downloaded I might actually try them.
