Nanosuit Costume

I've made some excellent strides on my nanosuit.  I really like how the chest piece came out.  I think once I order more supplies, I'll be able to really make some progress on the rest of the suit.  More details here.  Comments welcome!

Re: Nanosuit Costume

Wow, awesome.

Not bad for homemade materials as well.

I wonder if Crytek are making their own as well, lol.

I'm willing to bet, since that tubing, for the armour, like muscle fibres, is hollow, you could actually make the suit functional, but that'll take a lot of work, and a lot of motors, with a lot of gearing.

Still, just for looks, it ain't half bad.  Better go to the gym though, the man has to fit the muscly look of the suit, not the other way around, lol...

I can help make a working one, wink.

Seriously, buy a paintball gun, I'll make a mold for ice balls, then you can paper-mache the shell big_smile.

Re: Nanosuit Costume

str1ker: I actually do want to make some of it functional.  Maybe not super strength, but I was planning on wiring it through the tubes.  The red cloaking lights and whatnot.  Plus, I'm going to get a semi-realistic air rifle and attach some hard drive magnets to the side, so I can stick it to some metal plates on my back.  big_smile

Cool.

Even the paintball gun turn'd MOAC?

Yeah, do that.  Then they'll be like, okay, the mask isn't so great, but the rest of the suit is awesome.  We'll pay you to show us the actual suit so we can put it into production as a halloween costume, lol.

You'll be like, cool.  What about the MOAC?

lol.

I tell you, you could actually convert a paintball gun to fire ice shards instead of just balls.  That'd be cooler, although the accuracy would be shot...

(get it, shot?  paintball guns, get it?  hahaha!  oh, shut up...)

As it is now, the helmet is a temporary mockup.  I'll be using the braided tubes for that too, just flatter than the rest of the armor, so it should look much more accurate as I make more progress.

Re: Nanosuit Costume

Update: I built a vacuum former to make all the odd-shaped skeletal pieces on the suit.  Check it out!  Less than 50 bucks for all the parts.  Now I know how all those storm troopers running around got their suits.

Re: Nanosuit Costume

A Vacuum Former?

Jeeze, lucky.  I'd give anything for one of them.  I have a few RC project ideas that would desperately need a decent vacuum former, but, alas, I'm in Thailand.

Every bloody thing I need, and we're back at the 'I'm in Thailand' explanation.

Nice man.

I have a suggestion.  You know those 'light' type bits on the sides, on the back, and on the legs.  On the DVD case they glow red a bit, like the visor.  Buy a couple reflectors for bikes, that'd work well wink.

Striker, take a look at instructables.  That's where I got the plans for mine, and these in particular are very detailed (18 pages printed out).  Not that I've ever been to Thailand (planning on it, though!), but all the parts seem commonplace: a board, some plumbing bits, window screen parts, an oven, and a vacuum.

As for the red lights, I was actually going to go all out and wire the suit up with LEDs and stick a battery in one of the waist pouches.  smile
